The BAT54S-7-F from Diodes Incorporated is a Schottky barrier diode array containing two diodes connected in series (common cathode configuration) in a SOT-23-3 package. The series configuration is commonly used in mixer, detector, and clamping circuits where two diodes are needed in series. The low 0.24V forward voltage at 1mA minimizes signal loss in low-voltage applications. The fast 5ns reverse recovery time makes it suitable for high-frequency switching and RF applications. The 30V reverse voltage and 200mA forward current ratings cover most low-power signal and power supply ORing applications. The BAT54 series also offers common anode (BAT54A), common cathode (BAT54C), and series (BAT54S) configurations in the same SOT-23-3 package.

The BAT54S-7-F uses a metal-silicon (Schottky) junction formed between a metal (typically platinum silicide or titanium tungsten) and N-type silicon. The Schottky junction operates as a majority-carrier device where electrons cross the metal-semiconductor interface without minority carrier storage, resulting in the fast 5ns reverse recovery time and low 0.24V forward voltage. In the series configuration, the anode of diode 1 connects to pin 1, the common cathode junction connects to pin 2, and the anode of diode 2 connects to pin 3. When forward biased, current flows from pin 1 through diode 1 to the common cathode, then through diode 2 to pin 3 (or vice versa). The total forward voltage drop is approximately twice that of a single Schottky diode due to the series connection. The low reverse leakage of 2uA at 25V is achieved through careful control of the barrier metal and epitaxial layer doping.
