The combination of 1µF and 50V in a compact 0603 package represents a high capacitance-voltage product (CV) density, achieved through TDK’s advanced thin-layer technology. The X5R dielectric provides -55°C to +85°C operation with ±15% capacitance change. The 50V rating provides ample voltage margin for 12V, 24V, and 48V power rails, even accounting for DC bias capacitance reduction.

The C1608X5R1H105K080AB uses TDK’s multilayer ceramic construction with X5R (Class II) barium titanate-based dielectric. The high CV density is achieved through TDK’s thin-layer technology that enables many thin dielectric layers with fine inner electrodes. The 1µF capacitance at 50V in 0603 requires several hundred dielectric layers, pushing the limits of ceramic lamination technology. Like all Class II MLCCs, the capacitance decreases with applied DC voltage (DC bias effect), which must be considered in circuit design — at 48V applied, the effective capacitance may be 30-50% of the nominal value. The X5R dielectric provides ±15% capacitance change over the -55°C to +85°C temperature range.
