The OSRAM LWT673-Q2R2-5K8L is a high-performance white TOPLED designed for automotive interior and general illumination applications. The device delivers a typical luminous intensity of 2.7 candela at 20 mA forward current with a wide 120-degree viewing angle, providing uniform illumination across a broad area. The cool white color temperature of approximately 5800K produces natural-looking light suitable for interior dome lighting, instrument cluster backlighting, and status indication. Housed in a compact surface-mount package compatible with PLCC-2 footprints, the LED is optimized for automated pick-and-place assembly. The device is qualified per AEC-Q102 standards for automotive reliability and operates over the -40C to +100C temperature range. The low forward voltage of 3.2V typical ensures efficient operation in battery-powered applications.

The LWT673-Q2R2-5K8L uses a blue InGaN (Indium Gallium Nitride) LED chip coated with a yellow phosphor layer (typically cerium-doped YAG). When forward current flows through the PN junction, the InGaN chip emits blue light. A portion of this blue light excites the phosphor, which emits broad-spectrum yellow light. The combination of the remaining blue light and the yellow phosphor emission produces white light with a correlated color temperature of approximately 5800K (cool white). The luminous intensity of 2.7 cd is achieved through the internal reflector cup design and the light extraction efficiency of the package. The wide 120-degree viewing angle results from the diffusive properties of the phosphor layer and the lens geometry. Forward voltage of 3.2V at 20 mA reflects the bandgap energy of the InGaN material. The LED must be driven with a constant current source — exceeding the maximum forward current of 50 mA causes excessive junction temperature and accelerated lumen depreciation.
