It delivers up to 8A of continuous output current across a wide 4.5V to 28V input range, housed in a compact QFN-20 (3x4mm) package. The device utilizes Constant-On-Time (COT) control for fast transient response and simplified loop stabilization.

The NB6381DL-LF-Z is a high-efficiency, fast-transient synchronous step-down converter from Monolithic Power Systems. Designed for space-constrained power applications, it integrates both high-side (30mΩ) and low-side (12mΩ) MOSFETs in a tiny QFN-20 (3x4mm) package, eliminating external MOSFET requirements. The converter supports a wide input range of 4.5V to 28V and delivers up to 8A of continuous current, making it ideal for notebook, networking, and POL power systems. The COT control architecture provides excellent transient response while easing loop compensation design.

1. Power Stage: Integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs perform synchronous buck conversion, reducing conduction losses compared to diode rectification.
2. COT Control: Constant-On-Time control adjusts the off-time based on output voltage feedback, providing fast transient response without complex loop compensation.
3. Protection Subsystem: Over-current protection (OCP) monitors inductor current cycle-by-cycle; over-voltage (OVP) and under-voltage (UVP) comparators monitor the output; thermal shutdown activates at 150°C with 25°C hysteresis.
4. Soft Start/Shutdown: Programmable soft start limits inrush current; soft shutdown discharges the output capacitor gracefully.
