The Texas Instruments TPS61088RHLR is a fully integrated synchronous boost (step-up) converter with 10A switch current capability. It features an 11mΩ power switch and 13mΩ rectifier switch for high efficiency up to 91%. With a wide input range of 2.7V to 12V and adjustable output up to 12.6V, it is ideal for battery-powered portable systems. The 20-pin VQFN package measures only 4.5×3.5mm.

The Texas Instruments TPS61088RHLR is a high-power-density, fully-integrated synchronous boost converter with 10A switch current capability. It features an 11mΩ power switch and 13mΩ rectifier switch for up to 91% efficiency. The wide 2.7V-12V input range supports single-cell or two-cell Li-ion batteries, while the adjustable output (4.5V-12.6V) covers common voltage rails. The adaptive constant off-time peak current control topology provides stable operation. Switching frequency is programmable from 200kHz to 2.2MHz via an external resistor, enabling optimization for efficiency or solution size. The device offers PFM/PWM mode selection, programmable soft start, adjustable current limit, and comprehensive protection (OVP, OCP, TSD).

The TPS61088 uses adaptive constant off-time peak current mode control: (1) The output voltage is sensed through the FB pin via a resistor divider and compared to the 1.0V internal reference by the error amplifier; (2) The error amplifier output sets the peak current threshold; (3) During the on-time, the low-side switch (11mΩ) conducts, building current through the inductor. When the peak current reaches the threshold, the switch turns off; (4) During the off-time, the high-side rectifier switch (13mΩ) conducts, transferring stored energy to the output. The off-time is adaptively adjusted based on VIN/VOUT ratio to maintain the programmed switching frequency; (5) The BOOT capacitor provides the floating supply for the high-side gate driver. In PFM mode, the device skips pulses at light load to reduce switching losses. The internal LDO (VCC pin, 1µF minimum cap) powers the control circuitry.
