The KH25L4005AMC-15G is a 4Mbit CMOS serial NOR Flash memory from Macronix’s KHIC (Kyocera Harsh Industrial Component) product line. It provides standard SPI interface with single I/O operation and supports clock frequencies up to 66MHz. The 4Mbit memory is organized as 4M x 1 bit and features uniform 4KB sectors and 64KB blocks for flexible erase operations. The device includes hardware write protection via WP# pin, software-configurable block protection, and deep power-down mode for minimal standby power consumption. Manufactured using Macronix’s advanced CMOS process technology, it offers excellent data retention of 20 years and endurance of 100,000 program/erase cycles. The 8-pin 150mil SOP package provides a compact, cost-effective form factor suitable for a wide range of embedded applications where moderate-density non-volatile storage is required.

The KH25L4005A operates as a standard SPI serial NOR Flash memory. Communication is initiated by driving CS# low, then an 8-bit command is shifted in on the SI pin synchronized with the rising edge of SCLK. For read operations, after the command and 24-bit address are sent, data is shifted out on the SO pin on the falling edge of SCLK. The device supports several read modes including normal READ (03h) and FAST_READ (0Bh) for higher clock frequencies. Program operations use the Page Program (02h) command to write up to 256 bytes at a time. Erase operations can target individual 4KB sectors (SE command), 64KB blocks (BE command), or the entire chip (CE command). All program and erase operations are managed by an internal state machine that automatically handles timing. The Write In Progress (WIP) bit in the status register indicates when an operation is complete. Block protection can be configured via the status register BP bits to protect portions of memory from accidental modification.
