The MX25L25635FMI-10G is a 256Mbit 3V CMOS serial multi-I/O NOR Flash memory from Macronix. As part of the MXSMIO™ (Serial Multi I/O) family, it supports Single I/O, Dual I/O, and Quad I/O interfaces for high-speed data transfer up to 133MHz clock frequency. The device also supports QPI (Quad Peripheral Interface) mode for even higher throughput. With 256Mbit density organized as 32M x 8, it requires 4-byte addressing for full memory access. The memory features uniform 4KB sectors, 32KB blocks, and 64KB blocks for flexible erase operations. Advanced features include Fast Boot mode for execute-in-place (XIP) applications, Program/Erase Suspend and Resume, Burst Read with configurable wrap length, and Advanced Sector Protection with both individual block protection and password protection. Security features include 4K-bit secured OTP memory, unique ID, and hardware reset. The 16-pin 300mil SOP package provides a standard form factor. While the ‘F’ revision is not recommended for new designs (superseded by ‘G’ revision), it remains widely used in existing products.

The MX25L25635F operates as a high-density serial NOR Flash with multi-I/O capability. In standard SPI mode, commands and addresses are sent on SI and data is received on SO. In Dual and Quad I/O modes, multiple data pins are used simultaneously for both input and output, significantly increasing throughput. The device supports both 3-byte (default) and 4-byte address modes, with 4-byte mode required to access memory beyond 128Mbit. QPI mode enables all four I/O pins to carry commands, addresses, and data, maximizing throughput. Program operations are performed on 256-byte pages with support for Quad I/O Page Program (4PP) for fast programming. The device features Program/Erase Suspend/Resume, allowing the processor to temporarily pause an erase or program operation to perform a read in another sector, then resume the operation. Status is tracked via status registers and can be polled or monitored via hardware ready/busy functionality.
