It is part of the MX25_45 generation featuring advanced process technology and Multi-I/O default enable, allowing Quad mode read instructions to be executed directly without configuring the Quad Enable register. The device supports Single I/O, Dual I/O, and Quad I/O modes, along with QPI (Quad Peripheral Interface) and DTR (Double Transfer Rate) mode for maximum throughput. DTR mode enables data transfer on both edges of the clock, effectively doubling the data rate compared to STR (Single Transfer Rate) mode. The 512Mbit memory uses 4-byte addressing and features uniform 4KB sectors, 32KB blocks, and 64KB blocks. Advanced features include Fast Boot for XIP applications, Program/Erase Suspend/Resume, Burst Read, Advanced Sector Protection with individual and password protection, Secured OTP, hardware reset, and Unique ID. The 16-pin 300mil SOP package provides a standard, high-density form factor. Operating from 1.65V to 2.0V over industrial temperature range, it is ideal for high-performance 1.8V systems.

The MX25U51245G operates as a high-speed 1.8V serial NOR Flash using advanced Multi-I/O SPI protocol with DTR capability. In standard SPI mode, commands are sent on SI and data received on SO, with clock rates up to 166MHz. In Quad I/O mode, all four data pins carry data simultaneously, achieving much higher throughput. DTR (Double Transfer Rate) mode further enhances performance by transferring data on both rising and falling edges of the clock, effectively doubling the data rate. The device uses 4-byte addressing to access the full 512Mbit memory space, with commands available for both 3-byte and 4-byte address modes. An internal state machine manages all program and erase operations automatically. Program/Erase Suspend/Resume allows temporarily halting operations to access other memory regions. Advanced sector protection provides both individual sector/block protection and password-protected access control. The Multi-I/O default enable feature means Quad mode is available immediately after power-up, eliminating the need to set a QE bit, simplifying system design and improving reliability.
