The NL668-CN-01 is a 4G LTE Cat 4 wireless communication module from Fibocom (广和通无线股份有限公司), designed specifically for the Chinese market with full-network coverage supporting China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom networks. It is based on the standard MiniPCIe form factor (51x30mm) and supports multiple wireless network modes including LTE FDD/TDD, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, EVDO, CDMA2000, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE. The module provides maximum data rates of 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink under LTE Cat 4. The -01 variant features MCP 2+1 antenna configuration supporting MAIN_ANT only. The NL668-CN is a multi-mode cellular wireless module that provides data and voice connectivity over cellular networks. The module contains a baseband processor, RF transceiver, power management unit, and memory (MCP) all integrated within the MiniPCIe package. It connects to the host system primarily via USB 2.0 interface, presenting as a network adapter and/or serial ports. AT commands are used for configuration and control, supporting both standard 3GPP AT commands (TS 27.007, TS 27.005) and Fibocom proprietary AT commands for advanced features. The embedded TCP/IP protocol stack allows data communication without requiring the host to implement full network stack. For voice calls, the module supports both VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and circuit-switched voice on 2G/3G networks, with audio available via PCM digital audio interface. The module automatically searches and registers with available cellular networks, with multi-mode capability ensuring fallback to lower generation networks when 4G coverage is unavailable. Firmware can be upgraded via USB using DFOTA for differential updates or full firmware download.
