Working Principle
The IPM integrates the 3-phase inverter power stage (6 IGBTs + 6 FRD freewheeling diodes) with gate driver ICs and protection logic in a single package. Each IGBT gate driver includes level-shifting circuitry for the high-side switches. Overcurrent protection (OCP) monitors the IGBT current via sense IGBTs; if threshold is exceeded, the IGBT is shut down and a fault signal asserted. Over-temperature protection (OTP) monitors the baseplate temperature. Under-voltage lockout (UVLO) prevents gate drive when control supply is insufficient. The fault output (FO) signals any protection event to the MCU.
