The TLV320AIC3104 is a low-power stereo audio codec designed for portable audio and telephony applications. It integrates a high-performance stereo DAC (102dBA SNR) with 3D, bass, treble, EQ, and de-emphasis digital effects, and a stereo ADC (92dBA SNR) with digital signal processing and noise filtering during recording. The device features 6 audio inputs (including single-ended and fully differential) and 6 output drivers (including stereo headphone and fully differential line outputs). A programmable PLL provides flexible clock generation, while the I2C control bus and multiple audio serial bus formats ensure easy system integration. At only 14mW for stereo 48kHz playback, it is optimized for battery-powered designs.

The TLV320AIC3104 integrates complete stereo record and playback signal chains. In the record path, analog inputs pass through a multiplexer and programmable gain amplifier (PGA) to the stereo delta-sigma ADC. Automatic gain control (AGC) maintains optimal recording levels, and digital filters can remove audible noise from mechanical zoom operations. In the playback path, the stereo delta-sigma DAC converts digital audio data to analog, which is routed through a matrix mixer, programmable volume controls, and digital effects processing (3D, bass boost, treble, EQ) to the output drivers. The headphone amplifier provides direct-drive capability without DC-blocking capacitors. A programmable PLL generates all internal clocks from a single master clock input, supporting various sample rates and clock frequencies.
