The AL5812Q is a Diodes Incorporated AEC-Q100 qualified linear LED driver supporting 4.5V to 60V input with adjustable output current up to 100mA. It functions as a simple two-terminal constant current source, requiring only one external resistor to set the LED current. With 1.2V typical dropout voltage, ±5% current accuracy, and thermal shutdown protection, it is designed for automotive LED indicator, tail light, and interior lighting. The bias pin supports PWM dimming for brightness control.

The AL5812Q operates as a series-pass linear constant current regulator. The internal reference voltage and external current-set resistor (connected from the ADJ pin to GND) determine the LED current. The pass element maintains the programmed current through the LED string regardless of input voltage variations (within the operating range). The dropout voltage of 1.2V represents the minimum headroom needed between the input supply and the total LED string forward voltage. PWM dimming is achieved by modulating the bias pin voltage, which enables and disables the output current. Thermal shutdown activates at approximately 155°C junction temperature to protect the device.
