The DLP230GPAFQP is an ultra-compact 0.23-inch diagonal digital micromirror device (DMD) from Texas Instruments featuring a 960 x 540 (qHD) pixel array. With 5.4 µm micromirror pitch and 17° tilt angle, the device uses side illumination for optimal optical efficiency in extremely small form factor applications. The 8-bit SubLVDS data bus provides the interface to the DLPC3432 or DLPC3472 display controller. The chipset is completed by the DLPA2000, DLPA2005, or DLPA3000 PMIC/LED driver. The ultra-compact DLP230GP is ideal for wearable, AR glasses, and mobile pico projector applications where size and power are critical.

The DLP230GP DMD operates as a MOEMS spatial light modulator (SLM). Each micromirror in the 960 x 540 array tilts to ±17° to steer incident light between the projection path (ON) and light dump (OFF). Side illumination geometry enables efficient light collection in a compact optical engine. The 8-bit SubLVDS interface receives data from the DLPC3432 or DLPC3472 controller. Color-sequential illumination with RGB LEDs, synchronized with mirror state updates, produces full-color images. The IntelliBright algorithms in the controller (CAIC, LABB) optimize perceived brightness and image quality while minimizing LED power consumption.
