The LTC3703EGN-5 from Analog Devices is a 2-phase synchronous step-down DC-DC controller for high-current POL applications. Two interleaved phases share the output current, reducing input/output ripple and enabling smaller inductors and capacitors. 4-24V input and 0.8-5V output with external MOSFETs for up to 25A. Current mode control provides fast transient response and easy loop compensation.

The controller drives two pairs of external N-channel MOSFETs in interleaved (180-degree phase-shifted) operation. Each phase has its own current sense for per-phase current balance. The current mode inner loop provides cycle-by-cycle current limiting and automatic input voltage feed-forward. The outer voltage loop regulates the output voltage. Polyphase operation reduces RMS ripple by sharing current across two phases.
