The NCSA170CT-L3-R225,R250 from Vishay is an automotive-grade NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) thermistor in a compact 0402 chip package. Available with R25 resistance values of 225Ω or 250Ω, it provides precise temperature-to-resistance conversion with tight B-value tolerance. AEC-Q200 qualified for automotive applications, it features Ni-barrier termination for excellent solderability, high long-term stability, and operation from -40°C to +125°C.

The NCSA170CT NTC thermistor uses a metal oxide ceramic material whose resistance decreases exponentially with increasing temperature. The relationship follows the Steinhart-Hart equation or simplified B-value equation: R(T) = R0 × exp(B × (1/T – 1/T0)). With a B-value of approximately 4300K, the device provides high sensitivity around room temperature. The small thermal mass of the 0402 chip enables fast thermal response for real-time temperature monitoring.
