The 2542S-07TW-U from Bourns is a surface-mount common mode choke for EMI suppression on high-speed differential signal lines. High common mode impedance (~90 ohm at 100MHz) attenuates EMI while low differential mode impedance preserves signal integrity for USB, HDMI, and Ethernet interfaces.

Two windings on a ferrite core carry the differential signal in opposite directions. Differential signal flux cancels, passing the signal unimpeded. Common mode noise (same direction on both lines) adds flux, meeting high impedance for attenuation.
