The BCM4916A2KFEBG is a high-performance quad-core ARM v8 compliant 64-bit processor from Broadcom designed for the next generation of 10 Gb wireless applications. The quad-core B53 CPUs provide sufficient horsepower to support the throughput of Broadcom’s ultra high-performance Wi-Fi 7 access point chips while still offering plenty of headroom to run customers’ value-added applications. The BCM4916 features a dual-issue runner network processor and a high-performance Security Processing Unit (SPU). The integrated 10G/5G/2.5G multi-Gig PHY makes this the ideal platform for multi-gigabit broadband networks.

The BCM4916 serves as the main application and network processor in a Wi-Fi 7 access point. The quad-core B53 CPUs run the Linux network stack, routing, and application software. The dual-issue runner network processor offloads packet forwarding at wire speed, handling NAT, QoS, and flow tracking without CPU intervention. The SPU provides hardware-accelerated IPsec, TLS, and cryptographic operations. The integrated 10G/5G/2.5G multi-Gig PHY enables direct multi-gigabit WAN/LAN Ethernet connectivity without external PHY chips. Quad PCIe controllers connect to Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 radio chips (BCM67263/BCM6726). Secure boot and TrustZone ensure platform security.
