The RS1MLHRUG from onsemi is a 1A, 1000V general-purpose silicon rectifier in an SMA (DO-214AC) surface-mount package. With 1.1V maximum forward voltage at 1A and 30A non-repetitive surge current capability, it is designed for AC-DC power supply rectification, reverse polarity protection, and free-wheeling diode applications in high-voltage circuits.

The RS1ML uses a P-N junction formed by diffusing P-type dopant into an N-type silicon wafer. During forward bias, the depletion region collapses and majority carriers flow with 1.1V forward voltage drop. During reverse bias, the depletion region widens and blocks current flow up to 1000V. The high surge current rating (30A for 8.3ms half-sine) is achieved by a large junction area that can absorb the thermal energy without damage.
