The CL21B105KBFNNNF is constructed using alternating layers of ceramic dielectric (X7R formulation) and inner electrodes (Ni). The multiple layers are stacked and co-fired to form a monolithic block. The X7R dielectric is a Class II ferroelectric material (barium titanate based) that provides high volumetric capacitance. When voltage is applied, charge is stored at the electrode-dielectric interfaces. The many thin dielectric layers in parallel provide high capacitance in a compact volume.
