It provides 90Ohm of common-mode impedance at 100MHz, effectively attenuating common-mode noise that causes radiated emissions, while maintaining a low 0.5Ohm differential-mode impedance that preserves signal integrity on the differential pair. The DLP11SN900HL2 uses two magnetically coupled windings on a ferrite core to selectively attenuate common-mode noise while passing differential signals. When differential signal currents flow through the two windings in opposite directions, their magnetic fields cancel in the core, resulting in very low impedance (0.5Ohm) that does not distort the desired signal. When common-mode noise currents flow through both windings in the same direction, their magnetic fields add constructively, creating high impedance (90Ohm) that blocks the noise. This selective filtering mechanism allows the common mode choke to suppress EMI from sources like clock harmonics and switching noise without degrading the high-speed differential signal quality.
