The Panasonic EEUFC1V471B is a 470 microF, 35V aluminum electrolytic capacitor from the FC (low impedance) series. Designed specifically for switching power supply applications, the FC series features low impedance (0.053 ohm maximum at 100 kHz) and high ripple current capability (820 mA), making it ideal for SMPS output filtering where high-frequency ripple must be absorbed efficiently. The capacitor offers a long lifetime of 7000 hours at 105C, ensuring product reliability in demanding thermal environments. The radial through-hole package with 10mm diameter and 16mm length provides a compact solution for PCB mounting with standard 5mm lead spacing. The FC series uses high-quality electrolyte and etched foil technology to achieve superior frequency characteristics compared to general-purpose aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

The EEUFC1V471B is a polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitor. The anode is formed from etched aluminum foil with a large surface area, increasing the effective capacitance per unit volume. A thin aluminum oxide (Al2O3) layer, grown electrochemically on the anode surface, serves as the dielectric. The cathode is a second aluminum foil in contact with a liquid electrolyte (typically based on ethylene glycol with additives) that impregnates a separator paper between the foils. When a DC voltage is applied (anode positive), charge is stored in the electric double layer at the oxide-electrolyte interface. The large effective surface area of the etched foil and the extremely thin oxide layer (approximately 1.4 nm per volt) enable high capacitance in a compact volume. The 0.053 ohm impedance at 100 kHz represents the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the electrolyte, foil, and terminals — lower ESR allows higher ripple current handling with less self-heating. The 7000-hour lifetime at 105C is determined by the rate of electrolyte evaporation through the capacitor seal, which degrades the ESR and capacitance over time.
