The MAX6120EUR+T from Maxim/Analog Devices is a 2.048V precision series voltage reference with +/-0.2% initial accuracy and 50ppm/C maximum temperature drift in a tiny 3-pin SOT-23 package. The 2.048V output is ideal for 10-12 bit ADC and DAC reference applications, providing convenient binary scaling (1LSB = 1mV for 11-bit ADC). With only 100uA supply current and +/-2mA output current capability, it supports battery-powered instrumentation.

The MAX6120 uses a bandgap reference core that generates a voltage proportional to the silicon bandgap energy (~1.22V), which is then amplified by a precision resistive divider to produce the 2.048V output. Laser trimming of the thin-film resistors achieves +/-0.2% initial accuracy. The bandgap curvature correction circuit minimizes temperature coefficient to 50ppm/C. The series-mode output stage buffers the reference core from load variations without an external bypass capacitor.
