The IHLP2020BZERR47M01 stores energy in its magnetic field when current flows through the windings. In a DC-DC converter, the inductor alternately stores and releases energy during each switching cycle, smoothing the pulsed current into a continuous output. The 470 nH inductance value is suitable for high-frequency converters (500 kHz to several MHz) where low inductance values are preferred. The metal composite core provides a soft saturation characteristic where inductance decreases gradually with increasing current, rather than the abrupt saturation of ferrite cores.
