The Microchip LAN9252TI/ML is a 2-port EtherCAT slave controller with integrated 10/100 Ethernet PHY in a 64-pin QFN (9×9 mm) package. It supports SPI/SQI and MII interfaces for host communication, and provides 16 configurable digital I/O pins for EtherCAT Digital I/O mode. The device operates from 1.8V to 3.3V with built-in JTAG and I2C interfaces for configuration. Supporting IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.3u standards with full/half duplex operation, it is rated for the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The Microchip LAN9252TI/ML is a high-performance 2-port EtherCAT slave controller with integrated 10/100 Ethernet PHY, designed for industrial automation applications. It supports SPI/SQI and MII host interfaces, enabling flexible system design with a wide range of microcontrollers and FPGAs. The device provides 16 configurable digital I/O pins for EtherCAT Digital I/O mode, eliminating the need for an external host processor in simple I/O slave applications. With integrated dual EtherCAT ports, the LAN9252 supports line topology without external switches.

The LAN9252TI/ML operates as an EtherCAT communication slave node. 1) EtherCAT Processing Subsystem: The EtherCAT core processes incoming EtherCAT frames in hardware, extracting and inserting process data at deterministic sub-cycle times. Distributed Clock support enables precise synchronization across the network. 2) PHY Subsystem: Two integrated 10/100 Ethernet PHY transceivers provide the physical layer for EtherCAT ports, with Auto MDI/MDI-X and LinkMD diagnostics. 3) Host Interface Subsystem: SPI/SQI provides register-level access for host processors; MII interface enables external PHY connection. 4) Digital I/O Subsystem: 16 bidirectional I/O pins can be directly mapped to EtherCAT process data, enabling standalone I/O slave operation without a host MCU. Watchdog and sync managers ensure safe and deterministic data exchange.
