Product Overview
The LM211DT from TI is a single high-speed voltage comparator with 165 ns response time and ±1 mV maximum input offset voltage. Its wide supply range (5V to 30V single supply) and open-collector output make it versatile for level detection, zero-crossing detection, and relay driving.

Working Principle
A high-gain differential input stage amplifies the voltage difference between IN+ and IN-. When IN+ exceeds IN-, the open-collector output turns off (HIGH with pull-up). When IN+ is below IN-, the output transistor saturates (LOW). The 165 ns response time enables high-speed threshold detection. Input stage is designed to avoid phase inversion with overdriven inputs.
Applications
- Zero-crossing detection
- Overcurrent / overvoltage trip
- Level shifting comparator
- Relay / solenoid driver
