The LM2734YMK/NOPB is a 1 A step-down DC-DC converter from Texas Instruments in a 6-pin Thin SOT-23 (DDC) package. Operating from 3 V to 20 V input with a 550 kHz switching frequency (Y version), it provides an adjustable output from 0.8 V to 18 V. The internal 300 mΩ NMOS switch and current-mode control deliver high efficiency up to 90% in a minimal PCB footprint.

The LM2734 is a monolithic high-frequency PWM step-down DC/DC converter from Texas Instruments in a 6-pin Thin SOT package. The device provides all active functions for local DC/DC conversion with fast transient response in the smallest possible PCB area. Using 0.5 µm BiCMOS technology, the internal 300 mΩ NMOS switch drives 1 A loads with on-times as low as 13 ns, supporting high-frequency conversion from 3 V to 20 V input down to 0.8 V output. Efficiencies up to 90% are achievable with minimal external components.

The LM2734 uses current-mode PWM control with internal compensation. The internal NMOS switch connects the input voltage to the inductor during the on-time, and an external Schottky catch diode provides the freewheeling path during the off-time. The feedback voltage (0.8 V reference) is compared against the divided output voltage by the internal error amplifier. Current-mode control provides inherent line voltage feed-forward and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. Internal soft-start gradually increases the switch current limit at startup to reduce inrush current. The 30 nA shutdown mode is activated by pulling the EN pin low.
