The LMR10510 is a monolithic high-frequency PWM step-down DC-DC converter available in a tiny 5-pin SOT-23 or 6-pin WSON package. The Y variant switches at 3MHz, allowing the use of chip-scale inductors and capacitors for the smallest possible solution footprint. It provides up to 1A output current with an integrated 130mΩ PMOS switch, achieving efficiencies up to 93%. The device is internally compensated and requires minimal external components, simplifying design and reducing BOM cost. With 30nA shutdown current and internal soft start, it is ideal for battery-powered and space-constrained applications.

The LMR10510 employs a fixed-frequency current-mode PWM control architecture. At each clock cycle, the internal PMOS switch turns on, allowing current to flow through the external inductor. The inductor current is sensed and compared against the error amplifier output to determine the on-time. When the switch turns off, the inductor current flows through the external Schottky catch diode. The output voltage is sensed through the FB pin via a resistor divider and compared with the 0.6V internal reference by the error amplifier. The 3MHz switching frequency allows extremely small inductors (0.47-2.2μH) and capacitors while maintaining high efficiency. Current-mode control provides fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limiting for robust operation.
