The Power Integrations LNK3208G-TL is the highest output current member of the LinkSwitch-TN2 family, providing up to 775 mA in CCM mode and 485 mA in MDCM mode at 230VAC. The device integrates a 725V power MOSFET, oscillator, on/off control, high-voltage switched current source for self-biasing, frequency jittering, cycle-by-cycle current limit, hysteretic thermal shutdown, and comprehensive output and input overvoltage protection on a single monolithic IC. It supports buck, buck-boost, and flyback topologies and is designed for non-isolated off-line power supplies where higher output current is needed compared to other LinkSwitch-TN2 variants.

The LNK3208G-TL uses primary-side on/off control to regulate the output voltage without requiring an optocoupler or secondary-side feedback. The integrated 725V MOSFET switches at 66 kHz with frequency jittering for EMI reduction. A high-voltage switched current source provides self-biasing from the DRAIN pin. The on/off control scheme maintains high efficiency across the entire load range by enabling or disabling switching cycles. The BYPASS pin capacitor selects between high and low current limit modes – the high mode provides maximum continuous output current (775 mA CCM) while the low mode permits smaller, lower-cost inductors. Protection includes cycle-by-cycle current limit, auto-restart for fault conditions, output OVP, input OVL, and hysteretic thermal shutdown at 135-150 degC.
