The MVE-858-50-E2572 from Vishay is a 50kΩ conductive plastic single-turn potentiometer in a 7/8″ (22mm) housing. With 270° mechanical travel and ±0.5% independent linearity, it provides precise position-to-resistance conversion. The conductive plastic element offers essentially infinite resolution and long rotational life exceeding 10 million cycles. Operating from -55°C to +125°C, it is designed for high-reliability position sensing in industrial, military, and aerospace applications.

The MVE-858 uses a conductive plastic resistance element where a precious metal wiper slides along the surface. The wiper position divides the total resistance into two portions proportional to the mechanical angle. Unlike wirewound potentiometers, the conductive plastic element provides essentially infinite resolution with no discrete steps. The smooth, continuous surface ensures low noise, low contact resistance variation, and excellent linearity throughout the travel range.
