Product Overview
The SN74ACT244DBR from TI is an octal buffer/line driver with 3-state outputs in the ACT family (TTL inputs, CMOS outputs, ±24 mA drive). Two independent 4-bit sections with separate enables provide bus buffering and driving for high-capacitance loads.
Key Specifications

Working Principle
Two 4-bit sections each have an active-low output enable (1OE, 2OE). When enabled, outputs follow inputs with 8 ns propagation delay. When disabled, outputs are high-impedance for bus sharing. ACT family combines TTL-compatible input thresholds with high-drive CMOS outputs for robust 5V bus interfacing.
Applications
- 5V bus buffering
- Address/data driver
- Memory interface
- Capacitive load driving
