Product Overview
The SN74HCT574DWR from TI is an octal D-type edge-triggered flip-flop with 3-state outputs in the HCT (TTL-compatible input) family. The 3-state outputs enable bus sharing, and TTL-compatible inputs allow direct interfacing with bipolar or 5V TTL logic.
Key Specifications

Working Principle
On the rising edge of CLK, the 8 D inputs are captured and stored. The active-low OE controls 3-state outputs for bus sharing. When OE=HIGH, outputs are high-impedance. The HCT variant has TTL-compatible input thresholds (VIH=2V, VIL=0.8V) while maintaining CMOS output levels for noise margin.
Applications
- 5V bus register with tri-state
- Output port latch
- Microprocessor I/O expansion
- TTL-to-CMOS interface
