The SP485EN-L/TR is a low-power 3.3V RS-485/RS-422 half-duplex transceiver in SOIC-8 package. 250kbps data rate for standard industrial communication. ~300uA supply current for power-efficient bus nodes. ±15kV ESD protection on bus pins. Fail-safe receiver ensures logic-high output when bus is idle or all drivers disabled.

The driver converts single-ended TTL/CMOS logic to differential RS-485 levels (A-B > 1.5V for logic 1, A-B < -1.5V for logic 0). The receiver converts differential bus levels back to single-ended logic. The half-duplex architecture shares A/B pins between driver and receiver with enable/disable controls. The 3.3V supply reduces power versus 5V transceivers. Current limiting and thermal shutdown protect the driver from bus faults.
