The ST16C554D integrates four independent 16C550-compatible UARTs. The dual footprint interface allows operation in either Intel (68-pin mode 16) or Motorola (68-pin mode 68) bus configurations. Each channel has independent baud rate generators, FIFOs, and interrupt logic.
