The STPS0520Z from STMicroelectronics is a 20V/500mA low-drop Schottky rectifier in SOD-123 flat-lead package. The ultra-low 0.275V forward voltage at 500mA minimizes conduction loss in low-voltage DC-DC converter free-wheeling and OR-ing applications. Negligible reverse recovery (<1ns) eliminates switching loss. The 20V rating covers 3.3V and 5V converter output stages.

The metal-semiconductor Schottky junction (Al-Si) allows majority carrier conduction with no minority carrier storage. This gives sub-1ns reverse recovery and low forward voltage determined by the metal barrier height. The 0.275V VF is achieved with a low-barrier Schottky contact optimized for low-voltage rectification where conduction loss dominates.
