The device guarantees a minimum isolation voltage of 5000 Vrms, making it suitable for applications requiring high electrical isolation. The current transfer ratio (CTR) ranges from 50% to 600%, and the D4 option indicates VDE approval for safety-critical applications. The TLP383 operates by coupling an InGaAs infrared LED on the input side to a silicon phototransistor on the output side through an optically transparent insulating medium. When forward current flows through the LED, it emits infrared light that is detected by the phototransistor base region, generating a photocurrent that controls the transistor collector current. The ratio of output collector current to input LED current is the current transfer ratio (CTR), which ranges from 50% to 600% depending on LED current, temperature, and device grading. The 5000 Vrms isolation between input and output is achieved through the optical coupling path and internal insulation barrier.
