The TPS2012DR from TI is a 2A N-channel MOSFET power distribution switch in SOIC-8 package. 50 mOhm Rds on for minimal voltage drop. 2.2A fixed current limit for USB port power protection. 4ms controlled output rise time limits inrush current during hot-plug events. 2.7V-5.5V supply for USB, PCMCIA, and peripheral power distribution. Overcurrent and overtemperature fault reporting via OC output.

An internal charge pump generates gate voltage above the supply for the N-channel MOSFET power switch. When EN is high, the MOSFET turns on with controlled slew rate (4ms rise) to limit inrush current into the load capacitance. Current is sensed and limited to 2.2A. If overcurrent persists, thermal shutdown activates. The OC (open-drain) output asserts low on fault for host notification. UVLO prevents switch turn-on below 2.5V.
