The TPS53353DQPT is a high-efficiency 20A synchronous step-down (buck) SWIFT converter from Texas Instruments, packaged in a 22-pin LSON-CLIP (DQP) 6 × 5 mm package. It features integrated 5.5 mΩ/2.2 mΩ NexFET power MOSFETs, D-CAP mode control for fast transient response, and an eco-mode for high light-load efficiency. The device supports a conversion input voltage range of 1.5V to 15V and output from 0.6V to 5.5V.

Applications
The TPS53353 is a D-CAP mode, 20A synchronous buck converter with integrated NexFET power MOSFETs, designed for high-efficiency, high-current point-of-load applications. The device integrates 5.5 mΩ high-side and 2.2 mΩ low-side MOSFETs using TI’s NexFET technology, achieving over 91% efficiency from 12V to 1.5V at 20A. The D-CAP mode control provides fast transient response without requiring external compensation components. Features include auto-skip eco-mode, selectable switching frequency from 250 kHz to 1 MHz, programmable soft-start, adjustable overcurrent limit, and comprehensive protection including OVP, UVLO, and thermal shutdown.
The TPS53353 employs D-CAP (Direct Capacitor Area Proportional) mode control, a constant-on-time architecture with internal ripple injection. The on-time is set proportional to VOUT/VIN to maintain a pseudo-constant switching frequency. When the output voltage drops below the 0.6V reference, the high-side MOSFET is turned on for the programmed on-time. The low-side MOSFET is turned on during the off-time to freewheel the inductor current. The internal ripple injection network allows the use of all-ceramic output capacitors without requiring additional ESR for stability. In eco-mode, the device transitions to discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) at light loads by skipping switching pulses, which reduces gate drive and switching losses to maintain high efficiency. The overcurrent limit is adjustable via an external resistor and includes thermal compensation to maintain consistent protection across temperature.
