The 1206L035/30WR is a resettable PPTC fuse from Littelfuse’s POLYFUSE 1206L series, providing 0.35A hold current and 30V maximum voltage rating in a compact 1206 thin-film surface-mount package. It operates as a self-resetting overcurrent protector: under normal conditions it presents low resistance, but when the current exceeds the trip threshold, it rapidly transitions to a high-impedance state, limiting fault current. After the fault is removed and the device cools, it automatically resets to its low-resistance state.

The PPTC device consists of a polymer matrix loaded with conductive particles (typically carbon black). Under normal operating conditions, the conductive particles form percolation paths through the polymer, resulting in low resistance. When an overcurrent condition causes I²R heating that raises the device temperature above the polymer’s crystalline transition temperature, the polymer expands dramatically, breaking the conductive paths and causing a rapid increase in resistance (by several orders of magnitude). This limits the fault current to a safe level. When the fault is removed and the device cools, the polymer contracts and the conductive paths reform, restoring low resistance.
