The 1206L150THWR is a resettable PPTC fuse from Littelfuse’s POLYFUSE 1206L series, offering 1.5A hold current and 6V maximum voltage rating in a thin-film 1206 surface-mount package. The thin-film (TH) construction provides faster trip response compared to standard PPTC devices, making it ideal for protecting sensitive circuits where rapid overcurrent detection is critical. The device automatically resets after the fault is removed and it cools down, eliminating the need for fuse replacement.

The PPTC device is composed of a polymer matrix with conductive particles forming percolation paths. Under normal conditions, resistance is low (0.04-0.12Ω). When overcurrent causes I²R heating that raises the temperature above the polymer’s crystalline transition point, the polymer expands, breaking conductive paths and causing resistance to increase dramatically (by orders of magnitude). This limits fault current to a safe level. After the fault clears and the device cools, the polymer contracts and conductive paths reform, restoring low resistance.
