The ADUM2401BRWZ from Analog Devices is a quad-channel digital isolator using iCoupler magnetic technology, providing 5000 Vrms isolation (UL1577) with up to 10 Mbps data rate. Unlike optocouplers, iCoupler technology eliminates LED aging and provides stable CTR-independent performance. The device supports bidirectional communication and 3V/5V level translation across the isolation barrier, consuming only 1/10th the power of comparable optocouplers.

The ADuM2401 uses chip-scale air-core transformers on a single die. Data is encoded into short pulses that magnetically couple across the isolation barrier. The receiver decodes these pulses to reproduce the input logic state. A refresh circuit periodically updates the output state even without input transitions, ensuring DC correctness. The encoding scheme provides high noise immunity exceeding 25 kV/µs CMTI.
