The PCW-SMV-2-W0850-D110 from CUI Inc is a 2W AC-DC power supply module from the PCW-SMV-2 series, accepting universal 85-264VAC input and providing isolated DC output. The encapsulated PCB-mount module integrates all power conversion, filtering, and protection circuitry including overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-circuit protection. With 3000VAC isolation and compact footprint, it is designed for space-constrained IoT, industrial control, and smart meter applications.

The PCW-SMV-2 uses a flyback converter topology with a monolithic switch-mode controller. The AC input is rectified and filtered to create a high-voltage DC bus. The flyback transformer stores energy during the switch on-time and delivers it to the output during the off-time, providing input-to-output galvanic isolation (3000VAC). The feedback loop regulates the output voltage through an optocoupler and error amplifier. Protection circuits monitor output voltage and current, shutting down the converter when limits are exceeded.
