Product Overview

The P4SMA20A is a 400W unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse’s P4SMA series in a DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package. With a reverse standoff voltage of 20V, it provides transient voltage suppression for 15V-18V DC power rails and is a close neighbor to the P4SMA18A with slightly higher voltage rating.

The P4SMA20A is a 400W unidirectional TVS diode from Littelfuse’s P4SMA series, designed to protect 15V-18V DC power rails and signal interfaces against voltage transients. With a reverse standoff voltage of 20V and maximum clamping voltage of 32.4V, it offers slightly higher voltage headroom than the P4SMA18A for applications with higher nominal supply voltages. The compact SMA surface-mount package is suitable for high-density PCB layouts.

Under normal reverse-bias conditions below 20V, the P4SMA20A presents very high impedance with negligible leakage current. When a positive transient exceeds the breakdown voltage (22.2-24.5V), the avalanche junction rapidly turns on and clamps the voltage to 32.4V maximum at the rated peak pulse current of 12.3A. After the transient event, the device automatically returns to its high-impedance blocking state.
