In the RC0603FR-07150KL, the resistor is built on a high-purity 96% alumina (Al2O3) ceramic substrate. Alumina is chosen for its excellent electrical insulation, high thermal conductivity (approximately 20-30 W/m·K), good mechanical strength, and ability to withstand the high firing temperatures used in thick film processing.

When current flows through the thick film resistor, electrons travel through the network of conductive particles, encountering resistance at particle-to-particle contacts and grain boundaries. This electron scattering converts electrical energy into heat (Joule heating).
