The SMCJ300A is a 1500W unidirectional Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) diode from Littelfuse’s SMCJ series. With a reverse standoff voltage of 300V and maximum clamping voltage of 486V, it provides robust protection for high-voltage DC power buses, VFDs, IGBT inverters, and industrial power supply circuits. The unidirectional configuration is optimized for DC power line protection where transients are expected in one polarity relative to ground.

Under normal forward operation, the TVS diode conducts like a regular diode. In the reverse direction, it blocks voltages up to the standoff voltage (300V) with negligible leakage current (<1μA). When a transient voltage exceeds the breakdown voltage (335-371V), the avalanche junction rapidly turns on and clamps the voltage to 486V maximum at the rated peak pulse current of 3.1A (10/1000μs waveform). After the transient event subsides, the device automatically returns to its high-impedance blocking state.
