The CH340G from WCH is a USB bus converter chip providing USB-to-UART interface in SOP-16. The G suffix denotes the built-in 12MHz crystal oscillator version, eliminating external crystal need. Supports USB 2.0 full-speed with UART data transfer up to 2Mbps. Includes full MODEM handshake signals (RTS, DTR, DCD, RI, DSR, CTS) and IrDA SIR. Internal 3.3V regulator allows 5V supply with 3.3V I/O.

The CH340G operates as a USB-to-UART bridge. (1) The USB transceiver handles USB 2.0 protocol on D+/D- pins. The built-in 12MHz crystal provides USB timing reference. (2) The internal protocol engine converts between USB packets and UART format. 384-byte RX and 128-byte TX FIFOs buffer data between domains. (3) The UART outputs serial data (TXD) and receives (RXD) at configurable baud rates up to 2Mbps. MODEM signals provide hardware flow control. The internal 3.3V regulator generates I/O voltage from 5V USB supply.
