The TLX9291A from Toshiba is a 1-channel phototransistor photocoupler in a 4-pin mini-flat SO package. Featuring 80V VCEO, 3750Vrms minimum isolation voltage, and high CTR of 100% to 600% (GB rank) at 5mA, it provides reliable galvanic isolation for signal transmission between circuits at different potentials. AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications, the 2.1mm low-profile package supports surface-mount assembly in HEV/EV and industrial systems.

The TLX9291A consists of an infrared LED optically coupled to a phototransistor across an isolation barrier. When current flows through the LED (IF), it emits infrared light that is detected by the phototransistor base, causing collector current to flow proportional to IF × CTR. The 3750Vrms isolation barrier prevents electrical connection between input and output circuits. The high CTR (100-600%) ensures reliable signal transmission even with low LED drive current, reducing power consumption on the input side.
