It inverts, doubles, divides, or multiplies an input voltage from 1.5V to 12V, with up to 45mA output current and 96% typical power efficiency. The SIBAZT variant is in an 8-pin SOIC (narrow) package with tape & reel packing and industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).

The ICL7660SIBAZT is a monolithic CMOS switched-capacitor voltage converter from Renesas (formerly Intersil) that inverts, doubles, divides, or multiplies input voltages from 1.5V to 12V. With 45mA output current and 96% typical efficiency, it is ideal for generating negative rails from positive supplies (e.g., +5V to -5V). The BOOST pin increases switching frequency to reduce external capacitor size. Only 2 capacitors are required. The 8-pin SOIC with tape & reel packing and industrial temperature grade make it a drop-in replacement for the industry-standard ICL7660 and LTC1044.

The ICL7660S uses four internal MOSFET switches and two external capacitors (C_pump and C_hold) in a charge-pump (flying capacitor) topology. During phase 1, C_pump charges to V+ through S1/S2. During phase 2, S1/S2 open and S3/S4 close, connecting C_pump in series with C_hold to transfer charge and generate -V+ at the output. The BOOST pin connects to an external capacitor to raise the oscillator frequency from 10kHz to ~35kHz, reducing output ripple and capacitor size requirements. Conversion modes: (1) Invert: VOUT = -VIN, (2) Double: VOUT = +2VIN, (3) Divide: VOUT = +VIN/2.
