Its functional principle is: 1) Full-Wave Bridge Topology: Four high-power silicon rectifier diodes are arranged in a bridge configuration with two AC input terminals and two DC output terminals (positive and negative). The diode arrangement ensures that current flows through the external load in the same direction during both positive and negative AC half-cycles. 2) Positive Half-Cycle: During the positive half-cycle (AC1 positive with respect to AC2), two diodes in the bridge conduct: one connects AC1 to the positive DC output rail, and another connects the negative DC output rail to AC2. Current flows from AC1 through the first diode, through the external load from +DC to -DC, through the second diode, and returns to AC2. 3) Negative Half-Cycle: During the negative half-cycle (AC2 positive with respect to AC1), the other two diodes conduct: one connects AC2 to the positive DC rail, and another connects the negative DC rail to AC1. Current again flows through the load from +DC to -DC, maintaining the same output polarity. 4) Thermal Considerations: At 35A current, the total power dissipation (two diode drops × 35A) can be significant (approximately 75W at rated current). The metal case package transfers this heat to an external heatsink. The insulated case (2500VAC isolation) allows the heatsink to be grounded for safety while maintaining electrical isolation from the bridge’s internal circuitry.
