MT6735V

The MT6735V is a highly integrated LTE smartphone application processor from MediaTek, designed for entry-level and mid-range mobile devices. Announced in 2014, this SoC was one of MediaTek’s first 64-bit mobile processors, featuring four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores with NEON SIMD support, operating at up to 1.5 GHz clock frequency. Manufactured on a 28nm process node, the MT6735V balances performance and power efficiency for budget-conscious smartphone designs. The integrated ARM Mali-T720 GPU provides 3D graphics acceleration supporting OpenGL ES 3.0, capable of driving HD resolution displays and running mainstream mobile games. The memory subsystem supports single-channel LPDDR2 or LPDDR3 DRAM up to 3GB capacity at 640 MHz clock speed. A key highlight is the integrated multimode LTE modem supporting LTE Cat 4 with download speeds up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. The modem supports a comprehensive range of cellular standards including FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE, DC-HSPA+, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000 1xEV-DO, and GSM/EDGE, enabling global roaming capability. The MT6735V is a complex system-on-chip (SoC) that integrates multiple subsystems on a single die: 1) Application Processor Subsystem: Four ARM Cortex-A53 cores in a unified configuration with shared 512KB L2 cache. The Cortex-A53 is an in-order 64-bit ARMv8 architecture processor with NEON multimedia extension, providing good energy efficiency for general-purpose computing tasks. 2) GPU Subsystem: An ARM Mali-T720 GPU handles 3D graphics rendering, supporting OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenCL for compute tasks. The GPU operates at up to 600 MHz. 3) Modem Subsystem: The integrated LTE modem includes an ARM Cortex-R4 microcontroller running at up to 600MHz, plus dedicated DSPs for baseband processing. It supports LTE Release 9 Category 4 with 2×2 MIMO for downlink. 4) Multimedia Subsystem: Includes an ISP (Image Signal Processor) for camera data processing (up to 13MP), a video codec engine for H.264 encode/decode, and display controller for HD output. 5) Memory Subsystem: Single-channel 32-bit LPDDR2/LPDDR3 memory controller with advanced bandwidth arbitration. 6) Connectivity Subsystem: Integrated WLAN, Bluetooth, FM, and GPS modules share a common RF front-end architecture. 7) Power Management: DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling) technology allows the CPU cores to operate at voltages ranging from 0.85V to 1.25V depending on performance demand, optimizing power consumption. The entire SoC uses AMBA AXI and AHB bus architecture for high-speed data transfer between subsystems, with general DMA engines to offload data movement from the CPU. ARM TrustZone provides hardware-enforced security for sensitive operations such as mobile payments and DRM content protection.
