The PESD15VS2UT from Nexperia is a unidirectional double ESD protection diode in a SOT-23 package, designed to protect up to two data lines from electrostatic discharge and surge transients. With a reverse standoff voltage of 15V and breakdown voltage of 17.6V to 18.4V, the device clamps transient voltages to 40V maximum at 5A peak pulse current. The ultra-low leakage current of 20 nA typical ensures minimal impact on protected signal integrity. The common-anode configuration enables protection of two independent lines with a single ground reference, and the device meets IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 with contact discharge protection exceeding 30 kV.

The PESD15VS2UT contains two avalanche diodes in a common-anode configuration within a SOT-23 package. Under normal operating conditions (voltages below 15V), the diodes present very high impedance with leakage current below 20 nA, not affecting signal integrity. When an ESD or surge event drives the line voltage above the breakdown voltage (approximately 18V), the diode avalanches and conducts the transient current to ground, clamping the voltage at the protected node. The low clamping voltage (23V at 1A, 40V at 5A) ensures the protected IC sees a limited voltage stress. The 8/20 us peak pulse power rating of 160W allows the device to handle IEC 61000-4-5 surge events up to 5A.
